At the headquarters of the Banco de España in Madrid the lighting underwent an upgrade. Driven by the market ban on fluorescent lamps, old fluorescent luminaires were replaced by led luminaires.

The solution chosen for various office spaces in the mansard roof - U2 luminaires with diffused optics - meets all the required criteria. From a performance perspective this included adequate light levels, high visual comfort for a pleasant working environment and a reduction in energy consumption. From a sustainability point of view the U2 range offers a long lifetime, reliability, and limited maintenance. And the relighting of the offices yielded further positive results. Due to the sophisticated light distribution and high lumen output of the U2, fewer luminaires were needed to illuminate some of the larger spaces. Additionally, the luminaires were equipped with DALI drivers to enable dimming of the light. Both resulting in further energy savings. 

Overall, the new lighting installation not only complies with the EN12464 lighting norm. It also improved energy efficiency and visual comfort, while preserving the architectural charm of the building.

In addition to the general lighting, the previous fluorescent emergency luminaires were also replaced. The new emergency lighting from the K9 range fits well in the beautiful old building, seamlessly blending functionality and aesthetics.
