Solarwind - Refurbishment

The Solarwind office complex, built in 2013, was designed from the outset with energy efficiency as a priority. ETAP then supplied custom luminaires with integrated lighting management for maximum comfort and energy savings.

A LED upgrade was needed, but a classic renovation not an option

After more than a decade, some of the lighting no longer met current requirements. Especially the European ban on fluorescent lamps made an LED upgrade necessary. At the same time, maintenance costs rose and technical maintenance became increasingly complex.

A classic renovation was out of the question:

●     The ceiling had to stay to preserve the original look,

●     offices were to remain in use during the works.

The client again wanted lighting with sensors for daylight and presence to further reduce energy consumption

ETAP renewed lighting without breaking or disturbance

ETAP worked out a circular solution fully tailored to the situation:

• Led-upgrade via renovatie: At Solarwind's request, ETAP reused the existing luminaires and housing. After all, Solarwind wanted to use as little new material as possible and reinforce the building's circular ambition. ETAP therefore only replaced the lamp and reflector with a new U7 LED+LENS^TM module. The ceiling also remained untouched. The installation went without dust or noise and each luminaire was adjusted in less than 15 minutes.
   
• Sensors integrated in the new module: ETAP integrated an EasyDim Hybrid Office sensor into the new module. This combines daylight and presence detection and allows the light level to be set for each room. The client therefore retains the comfort of smart control, but in a more modern and flexible system.
   
• The emergency lighting also received a sustainable upgrade: ETAP replaced the interior of the escape route signs with an LED solution, without modifying the housing.

Thanks to this smart update, the building still meets the requirements of sustainability labels BREEAM, HQE and DGNB. Those international labels assess buildings on energy consumption, use of materials and comfort.

The result? A more modern look without changing the concept

With this project, ETAP proves that it is perfectly possible to renew lighting without breaking work, without waste and without disruption. The client is satisfied with the result and with the convenience of the new controls.
