It is a generally known fact that the construction sector is experiencing a period of boom in the United Arab Emirates. A lesser known fact is probably the increased emphasis on sustainability in this context. Therefore, right up the alley of the ETAP office in Dubai.
Diesel Technic is one of the largest suppliers of spare parts for commercial vehicles in the Independent Aftermarket (IAM). The logistics and service centre in the free trade area of Jebel Ali in Dubai is the group's second largest. In 2012 the company launched an ambitious expansion project: a new warehouse with a storage area of around 20.000 m² and a four-storey office building, each with a surface area of 865 m².
The Diesel Technic management imposed stringent requirements on materials and technologies used, both with respect to sustainability and finish. "For the lighting the starting point was the EN12464 standard (the European standard for lighting in the workplace)," according to Michael Nuyttens, CEO of ETAP U.A.E. "In addition, all installations had to be mercury-free."
ETAP won them over with its LED+LENSTM U7 and D42 luminaires. Both series combine excellent performance with low power consumption and high maintenance factor.
"Especially power consumption was a decisive factor," states Michael Nuyttens. "Installed power of 40 kW was required for the original solution by another supplier. We offered an alternative of less than half that: 19.5 kW. Since the stylish design of our LED+LENSTM luminaires furthermore nicely fits in with the architecture, Diesel Technic eventually chose ETAP."
