The regional Heilig Hart Hospital in central Lier treats 68,000 patients annually. The hospital is in full renewal mode, striving for innovation and quality.
And that is where it has found a great partner in ETAP.

The emergency lighting at the Lier-based Heilig Hart Hospital was badly outdated and regularly malfunctioned. It was an impossible task for the in-house, limited technical department to pursue this any further.

However, properly functioning emergency lighting is a requirement to be able to operate as a healthcare facility. A quick solution was called for. Since 80% of the existing equipment had already been supplied by ETAP, we were able to act fast, our task split into two phases.

The hospital was also expanded with a modular new-build wing housing an operating theatre. Emergency lighting was planned here in a final phase.

 

Emergency lighting refurbishment

Our renovation modules allowed for a smooth transition from fluorescent to LED. Barely any demolition or additional cabling is required with these innovative refurbishment solutions for emergency lighting. We used K8Ms and K1Ms to replace the existing inside of the emergency lighting 1 on 1.

 

Expansion of emergency lighting

In order to comply with regulations, additional emergency lighting was installed during a second phase. Both K2s, K1Rs and K1s were provided to fill gaps in the existing luminaire network. During a third phase (2023) the new-build wing was fitted with new emergency lighting (K2s and K1Rs).

 

Unburdening service

Emergency lighting guarantees safety during power outages. That is why proper management of the installation is an absolute must. The integration of the ESM management tool (ETAP Safety Manager) makes monitoring the approximately 1,300 luminaires understandable and manageable. It also makes it possible to automatically compile the mandatory monthly logbook.

The Heilig Hart Hospital in Lier furthermore opted for a C-LaaS agreement with ETAP. As a result, ETAP will be responsible for the first-class and faultless operation of the emergency lighting over the next ten years.

The combination of an automated management tool (ESM) and the service agreement gives the hospital more time for its core business, which is caring for others.
