Koning Willem II College in Tilburg is on the rise. Besides regular courses, the school also offers space to students with extra talent or interest in, for example, drama or music. This is known far beyond the city limits. Pupil numbers are rising and the school is expanding the campus with a new building. The new teaching wing houses adapted classrooms for theatre and music, among others.
Added value as a total partner
After previous positive experiences, the school once again found a partner in ETAP to help think of suitable solutions. After all, every room in the new building has specific needs: from the auditorium to (specific) classrooms, staffroom and library. ETAP provided tailor-made lighting calculations for each room. After this study, we know exactly how many and which luminaires each room needs. Our know-how combined with the technical quality and durability of our products make ETAP a reliable total partner.
Functional and aesthetic light
In the new building, the Ley modular continuous-row lighting system is the eye-catcher in the entrance area. The continuous lines perfectly emphasise the clean architectural lines in the building. The spacious canteen is also equipped with Ley.
In the corridors, the round D9 series is used in two different versions. The choice of reflector helps determine the light output. The use of a satinised reflector results in a calm image while the high-gloss reflector ensures higher output.
Customisation highlights thorough approach
For the classrooms, study rooms and library, the ceiling was decisive for the choice of lighting series. The classrooms are fitted with U7 recessed luminaires while for the study rooms and the library, the surface-mounted R7 series is the ideal solution. Both ranges (U7 and R7) feature our patented LED+LENSTM technology. With the same look and feel, different light output is still possible, depending on what the room requires. Even more customisation for the classroom of drama. For seamless integration into the black ceiling, the U7 luminaires were supplied in the requested RAL colour. Also in the new sports infrastructure, we ensured maximum comfort for the athletes.
Equally important is the installed escape route lighting and signalling. In an emergency situation, our K1R series safely guides all those present out of the school. One striking feature is the large distances that can be maintained between emergency luminaires.
To monitor the operation of the emergency lighting, the Koning Willem II College uses ESM (ETAP Safety Manager). Thanks to this platform, you are notified, for instance, in case of a malfunction or when maintenance is required. ESM is a handy management tool and unique of its kind.
