City of Mechelen is one of the first Light as a Service projects ETAP launched in early 2018. As part of a sustainable renovation, some of the city's buildings switched to sustainable office materials and LED lighting. This reduces energy consumption by as much as 70%.
In a Light as a Service project, ETAP is responsible for the installation, maintenance, financing and, finally, a circular repurposing of the light fixtures. In return, the City of Mechelen only pays a rental fee, as ETAP remains the owner of the installation. In this way, lighting no longer becomes a one-off product, but a perfect example of sustainability and circular economy.
The choice fell on R7 luminaires. ETAP also took care of the emergency lighting.
