UGR
Unified Glare Rating
This is an approximate model expressing the risk of glare.
The standard values range from UGR 16 (low risk of glare) to UGR 28.
In the standard for workplace lighting EN12464-1, limit values for UGR are imposed for various rooms.
Typical UGR values :
- Office/Classrooms/Meeting rooms : UGR<19
- Corridors : UGR<28
- Staircases : UGR<25
- Warehouses : UGR<25
Quality criteria for drivers

The driver is one of the most critical components in LED solutions. The quality of LED luminaires not only depends on the LED light source and optical design, but also on the efficiency and reliability of the driver. A good LED driver must meet seven quality requirements:
- Lifetime.
- Efficiency.
- Power factor.
- Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
- Switching current (Inrush current).
- Waveform current.
- Mains voltage filtering.
Drivers are therefore crucial components in all LED solutions. High-quality drivers can be recognised by requesting the technical fact sheets from the manufacturer to check if the above quality requirements are met. ETAP always provides quality LED drivers, perfectly adapted to the solution and thoroughly tested in our labs.

Luminous efficacy (lm/W)
Efficacy: lm/W
The specific luminous flux reflects the relationship between luminous flux and power consumption. Just as with fluorescents, a distinction must be made between the light source’s specific luminous flux (LED component, measured at 25° or 85°C junction
temperature and with a standard control current) and that of a luminaire, including driver and optics.

U2
U2 is a diffuse backlit luminaire. The advanced microstructure foil combined with a recycled PMMA plate ensure high visual comfort (UGR<16 and <19) and a very high efficiency (~150lm/w). Its sophisticated light distribution and high lumen output (up to 5500lm) allow you to illuminate large spaces such as landscape offices with a minimum of luminaires.
Future proof and circular, all parts of U2 can be easily replaced with basic tools (no screw, no glue), or refurbished at end of life, making sure it can be serviced for decades and never be wasted. U2 uses DALI2 certified drivers for simple integration with light management systems.
