The abbey site Park Abbey is a unique and special heritage site in Leuven. The abbey's history dates back to the 12th century. The Leuven city council has been leaseholder since 2003 and immediately started thorough maintenance and renovation works.
Compact solution
The renovation of the site also included emergency lighting in two buildings. These are the Provisorenhuis, which will house offices by the end of 2024, and the 17th-century Tiendenschuur, which houses the abbey farm shop De Wikke.
One of the challenges was to fit the emergency lighting luminaires into the structure of the building. With the K9 range, ETAP offers a high-quality and compact solution suitable for any environment. The K9 emergency lighting provides both illumination and signalling luminaires with pictograms. The K9 series is known as a discreet and design solution.
Complete escape route illuminated
Suppose there is a power failure and evacuation is required. How can this be done in safe conditions? Not only the escape route inside the building, but also the outside route to the assembly point should be illuminated.
EBS Superior Compact is the appropriate solution here. The Provisorenhuis and the Tiendenschuur are each equipped separately with an ETAP Battery System or EBS. Several exterior lighting luminaires are connected to this central battery system. The escape route in the building and the escape route to the assembly point thus remain illuminated for one hour and thus visible, even after a power failure.
Thanks to emergency lighting and illuminated safety signs luminaires and the implementation of two EBS Superior Compact cabinets, these two prominent buildings have a standard-compliant emergency lighting system.
