First class cars shine brightly thanks to new LED lighting
BMW Centrauto in Malle celebrated their reopening at the end of 2017. Their cars gleam more than ever thanks to the new LED luminaires. The new lighting solution was not hard to find: BMW Centrauto and ETAP have been each other's neighbors for decades. 'The neighbor relationship has only become better,' says Chris Claessens of PMC - Urban Connectivity who coordinated the project. 'We are of course very satisfied with the result.'
In 2017, BMW Centrauto in Malle decided to do a thorough makeover. Coordinator Chris Claessens of PMC - Urban Connectivity explains: 'The building needed to be renewed. The previous lighting, for example, dated from 30 years ago.' The key criteria for the new lighting solution were efficiency and sustainability. 'But aesthetics played an important role as well,' says Chris Claessens. The ETAP LED+LENSTM luminaires were a winner on all of those levels.

Whereas the new cars are highlighted by cold-white U7 luminaires, the seating and circulation areas are illuminated by U7 with warm-white LEDs (3,000 K). The reception desk is provided with suspended R7 luminaires. And in the zone with premium cars, E8 luminaires provide powerful light. This way, the different luminaire ranges support the architectural layout of the rooms. 'Yet the lighting is above all a harmonious whole,' concludes Chris Claessens.
Light - exactly where it needs to be
Behind the scenes - in the workshop - the lighting had to meet specific requirements as well: the luminaires had to be installed between the car hoists, while the light output ends up exactly on the cars. Thanks to the flexibility of the E5 light line system and the multilens optic with double asymmetrical lenses, this requirement could also be fulfilled. The result is a considerable upgrade of the lighting level (to 800 to 1,000 lux), which provides extra working comfort.
... and when it nees to be
Modern lighting implies light control: the Excellum2 control system ensures smart lighting. For example, the luminaires in the showroom have daylight dependent control. In addition, they can also be manually dimmed. To conclude, a day and night scenario is provided. These light control measures boost both energy savings and comfort.
