A healthy mind in a healthy body. An old saying that hasn’t lost any of its meaning. And a good reason for the Humboldt University to build an additional sports hall on their campus Mitte, in the heart of Berlin. Based on their past experience, the university turned to ETAP for both general and emergency lighting in this new building.
Three elements played a convincing role in the selection of E7 luminaires for lighting the sports hall:
E7 allows for a perfect illumination in line with the EN-12193 standard. Whether the hall is used as one large space or as a series of smaller playing fields, there is always enough light for all the different sports disciplines. Thanks to the LED+LENSTM optics the light is very comfortable, never dazzling the players on the field. The high Lamp Lumen Maintenance Factor (LLMF) of the range makes it a very sustainable solution: the luminaires have a long lifetime with hardly any loss in light output. At the same time, the luminaires integrate very discretely in the architecture. They combine nicely with the skylights without hindering the sports equipment installed in the ceiling.
For the emergency escape lighting and safety signs, luminaires from the K2 range are used. Its solid design is an excellent match in this setting. With the protective grille, the luminaires are ready to take a punch by ball impacts. For the building next to the sports hall, the university already uses ETAP Safety Manager (ESM) to monitor and control the emergency lighting. The new luminaires have been added to this existing ESM system. This way, their performance can be centrally monitored from behind a computer, in a super-easy way.
