How lighting can contribute to a “healing environment”.
A beautiful, comfortable environment can have a positive impact on a person's recovery. Patients in the new pulmonary rehabilitation building (Radboudumc) could not do better in this respect. The interior has a fresh and modern look, with plenty of attention paid to tranquillity, space and greenery. The lighting - from long-standing partner ETAP - also contributes to the building's feel and is all about patient wellbeing and sustainability.
In pulmonary rehabilitation, you will find a wide variety of lighting: luminaires are designed with functionality in mind for each room. For example, offices are illuminated by luminaires with high-efficiency optics. Patient rooms, in turn, are fitted with US softlights that deliver softer lighting to ensure patients are not disturbed by the LED light source.
In the gymnasium, diffuser luminaires (U2) provide bright and pleasant lighting. In turn, the long architectural light lines (Ley) in the corridors create lovely lighting effects on the walls.
Sustainability first and foremost
In addition to comfort and aesthetics, energy efficiency also played a major part in the client's decision. ETAP luminaires excel with their long service life, high efficiency and particularly low energy consumption. High-quality components and sophisticated lighting design deliver high lighting levels (read: you will need fewer luminaires), with very little energy. Lastly, all luminaires are fitted with DALI, allowing the lighting level to be adjusted.
Attractive … but also safe
Just like the other buildings on the campus, this building was also fitted with ETAP emergency lighting, controlled by the central management system ETAP Safety Manager (ESM), which performs automatic checks and reporting.
