Telenet is one of the leading telecom providers in Belgium. Telenet is also involved in the media through various television and radio channels. Telenet's operations are based in Mechelen, between the metropolitan cities of Antwerp and Brussels.

Renovation without demolition

The refurbishment of the office building came with the request to install new emergency lighting. Since the office lighting still consisted of fluorescent light bulbs, these also needed to be replaced with LED lighting. After all, fluorescent lights are being phased out. The European Union prohibits the production and import of new fluorescent lighting.

It was an absolute must that Telenet staff not be inconvenienced during the works. ETAP set out to work with a custom design and the required lighting calculations. The result is a comprehensive refurbishment solution based on U7 modules with LED+LENS^TM optics. The major advantage being that the housings are retained and only the light sources and reflectors are swapped for a sustainable LED module. The combination of less waste, a smaller CO2 footprint and a very long service life for the updated lighting contributes to a positive ecological solution. The emergency lighting (K9 mini) is wirelessly and inconspicuously integrated into the U7 module. The customer manages everything centrally with the existing ETAP Safety Manager (ESM).

Pleasant experience

In less than 1 month, 1,100 luminaires were converted into modern, stylish office lighting with high output and a pleasant user experience without any demolition or painting work. The lighting retrofitting delivers a 53% energy saving.
